JOB PURPOSE
The Head of Audit is responsible for leading the Internal Audit Department to ensure the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes across the organization. The role involves providing independent and objective assurance to management and the Board on the adequacy and efficiency of the company’s internal systems, policies, and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Strategic and Leadership Responsibilities
• Develop and implement a comprehensive internal audit strategy and annual audit plan aligned with the organization’s objectives and risk profile.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the audit team to ensure high-quality and value-added audit services.
• Advise management and the Board Audit Committee on emerging risks, control weaknesses, and recommended improvements.
• Ensure that the audit function operates in line with professional auditing standards and regulatory requirements.
B. Audit Planning and Execution
• Plan and oversee financial, operational, compliance, and information systems audits across departments and branches.
• Review audit findings and ensure timely submission of accurate and comprehensive audit reports.
• Conduct risk-based audits and recommend appropriate corrective measures to mitigate identified risks.
• Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, policies, and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
• A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is an added advantage.
Professional Certification
• Must possess a recognized professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).
• Membership in a relevant professional body is required.
Experience
• Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in internal or external auditing, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in risk management, corporate governance, and financial systems review.
• Experience in the healthcare, financial, or service industry will be an advantage.
Technical Skills
• Strong knowledge of internal audit standards, accounting principles, and risk-based auditing techniques.
• Proficient in the use of audit management and data analytics tools.
