Having a clear vision starts from how we treat our eyes. There are several steps we can take to protect our eyes & vision from being damaged. Here is a reminder to follow these simple tips to maintain & improve eyesight quality:
Consult A Professional- Even with perfect sight, it is recommended to consult an eye care specialist regularly to detect even the slightest change in vision quality.
Watch for symptoms-
if these symptoms persist for more than a day, seek medical advice immediately:
- Reddened & painful eyes
- Noticeable vision loss
- Blurry or double vision
- Difficulty in focusing on objects at night
- Color blindness
- Fluid from the eyes
Take breaks- While focusing on any sort of bright screen or object for a prolonged period, be sure to rest your eyes for a minute or two every hour.
Use glasses- If you have been prescribed glasses, never forget to wear them during your active hours to protect your vision & prevent your eyesight from getting worse.
Wear Sunglasses Outside- UV rays & the bright sun are damaging to our vision, so if you spend hours outdoors it is recommended that you use a pair of sunglasses.
Learn your eyecare history- Try to keep an updated record of eye conditions or vision problems that runs in your family. This will ensure that your eye doctor can give you a more accurate diagnosis.
Monitor Chronic Diseases- Do your best to keep these medical conditions under control to prevent eye complications:
- High Blood Pressure
- High Cholesterol
- Diabetes
Eat Healthy- Consume more green, leafy vegetables & any oily fish to keep your eyes functioning right & for better vision growth
Practice Healthy Lifestyles- Drinking & smoking are a few lifestyle choices that are not encouraged, as they can lead to organ failure & development of chronic conditions that may also impact eyesight.
